Joe Blasco (born April 30, 1947, in Jeannette/Greensburg, Pennsylvania) is a renowned Hollywood makeup artist, educator, and founder of the esteemed Joe Blasco Cosmetics company. His career spans more than 60 years, during which he has become one of the most influential figures in beauty, film, television, and special makeup effects.
Joe Blasco is celebrated for his pioneering work across motion pictures, television, editorial photography, and special makeup effects, as well as for mentoring generations of professional makeup artists. In the early 1980s, he founded his own cosmetics company and established the Joe Blasco Makeup Training Centers—among the first government-approved professional makeup schools in the United States, with campuses in Hollywood and Orlando. His influence extended far beyond application, as he developed innovative techniques and products that helped push the industry forward.
Over his career, Joe Blasco worked extensively on major television shows and films, serving as the personal makeup artist to legendary stars such as Orson Welles, Olivia Newton-John, Marlene Dietrich, and Lauren Bacall, among many others.

He is credited with inventing advanced effects techniques, including the groundbreaking “bladder method” used to create realistic moving skin effects in horror and character makeup. His contributions have earned him numerous honors, including the 2004 Distinguished Achievement Award from the United States Institute for Theatre Technology.
